Want to make a DIFFERENCE in The Meadows?

The process to become an MCA Board Director has begun! Below is a “reprint” of an article in the September Meadoword. We’re sending the article out via this channel in case you missed the article but would like to make a difference in The Meadows (or know someone who would).

MCA BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTION

Each year, MCA holds an election for three Director positions on its nine member Board of Directors. The Board directs the operation of MCA, and through its committees, oversees various aspects of our community.

Property owners who are interested in assuming one of the Board positions should visit the MCA building at 2004 Longmeadow and request a Board Applicant Package.

Completed forms must be returned to the MCA office no later than 3 PM on Friday October 3, 2025. For further information, please contact Mike Mazur at the MCA office at (941) 377-2300.

Candidates for the Board are asked to introduce themselves to the community at the Assembly meeting on November 19, 2025 at the Lifestyle and Wellness Facility. Each candidate will be given five minutes at the meeting to address the audience. In addition, the Assembly Executive Committee will schedule a candidates’ information program for the community.

In mid-November, the candidates will receive a set of questions. Candidates will provide information about themselves. The responses from each candidate will be featured, along with a photo, in the January, 2026 issue of The Meadoword.

Ballots will be distributed to all Meadows property owners in mid- January, 2026. The ballots will be mailed with the MCA annual assessment document.

The results of the election will be announced at the MCA Annual Meeting on March 3, 2026 at 7:00 pm. The Annual Meeting will be held at the Lifestyle and Wellness Facility.

We note that although the article refers to only “property owners” as future directors, spouses who reside with a member (property owner) in The Meadows and/or Highlands may serve on the Board (Articles of Incorporation, Article VIII, S1  and Bylaws Article VI, S2).

Which current Directors are completing a 3-year term?

  • Michelle Johnston is completing her first 3-year term and is eligible to seek re-election for a second 3-year term.
  • Chris Perone is completing his first 3-year term and is eligible to seek re-election for a second 3-year term.
  • Mark Pienkos is completing his second 3-year term and is ineligible to seek re-election

As noted above the deadline for submitting an “application” is Friday October 3 at 3:00pm. Last year some candidates dropped out of the running prior to ballots being issued in January. You can always drop out after applying, so if you are interested in being an MCA Director make sure you get your application in on time!
