MCA Election Results!

We’ll get right to it: in order of votes received:

Alex Peake: 27,219
Donald Breece: 25,816
Melvin Sykes: 16,219
Philip Boyle: 16,123
Patricia Skelly: 15,489
Amy Chapman: 13,747
Gene Mercer: 9,617

Alex Peake, Donald Breece and Melvin Sykes are our new MCA Board Directors.

Following the Annual Meeting, the new Board of Directors met to elect the Executive members, which are as follows for the next year:

President: Chris Perone
Vice President: Tom Bondur
Secretary: Alex Peake
Treasurer: Melvin Sykes

This Board has some really big important decisions ahead of them. We’re confident they will do it with a lot of truth and transparency which are the key to bringing the community back together. Even though we may disagree with some decisions, we should be able to understand why they were made.

Please share this with your friends and neighbors.

Joe Moore inspired many MCA homeowners to continue the pursuit for change. So fitting and apropos that Joe’s response is the first comment posted.

With these landslide results does anyone think the board got the message? Membership in TMCC is poison for candidates. Watch the next elections. Candidates for office approved by the MCA board will all be club members.

From the last 6 months or so of Board meetings it has been clear that 3 Directors were “messengers” of “the message”. The problem was that they were the minority and the (EX)President and (EX)Treasurer dominated Board decision making and speaking on behalf of the Board. With this election and the change in Board leadership we are VERY confident that the new Board will consider all options and act in the best interests of the whole community in determining the future of our sports and dining complex.
In late 2022 Joe Moore forced the Board to change the bylaws to drop the restriction that nominees had to be approved by the Assembly (it was unlawful and he had to threaten to sue). This made it possible for “outsider” candidates to run and we owe a debt to Joe for doing this. So the MCA Board no longer has a say in the candidates who run. And the community is now awakened to the fact that we can elect candidates who represent us best. We’re optimistic that this is the beginning of a new path, but it will be up to homeowners to make it so.
Lastly, VERY important decisions are going to be made in the next 6 months which will have a lot of permanence. So we’re glad we have good representatives in place.
