Benderson could control UTC stormwater and taxes with proposed bill

Summary from the online article:

  • A new Florida bill would create a special government district for the University Town Center area.
  • The district would grant developer Benderson Development Co. the power to levy taxes and oversee expansions.
  • Concerns have been raised by officials over the district’s broad powers and inclusion of the publicly-owned Nathan Benderson Park.
  • Proponents argue the district is needed to fund stormwater improvements and other infrastructure projects.

Private Taxes for infrastructure that Benderson needs to continue to developed their property. The size of the projects planned will overwhelm the roads and dramatically change the lifestyle of the Meadows.
