MCA Board Candidate Presentations

Yesterday at the Assembly of Property Owners meeting there were two items on the agenda:
1. Presentation from the MCA Treasurer on the draft 2025 budget. It is not yet approved by the MCA Board and will be posted with extensive details when it has been approved. Link to video of presentation.
2. Presentations from each of the 7 candidates for 3 MCA Board positions. Link to video of candidate presentations.

The 7 candidates are vying for 3 open positions on the MCA Board.

The candidates are below in alphabetical order (as presented in the meeting). Two current MCA Board members completing their first 3-year term have decided not to run for a second 3-year term (Ned Boston and Stan Miska). For your convenience we’ve noted which candidates are TMCC members (5 of 7!) and are former TMCC Board members/executives (all information stated by the candidates in their presentation).

Phillip Boyle – TMCC Platinum Family member. TMCC Board member from 2019-2022, including President from 2020-2022 when the first lease was renewed.

Donald Breece – Not a TMCC member.

Amy Chapman – TMCC Sport member

Gene Mercer – TMCC Platinum Family member. TMCC Board member from 2016-2019, including Secretary in 2017 and President from 2018-2019 when the assets were sold to MCA, the $10 lease-back was instituted, and the Renaissance Access Plan was initiated.

Alex Peake – Not a TMCC member.

Patricia Skelly – TMCC Gold member.

Mel Sykes – TMCC Tennis Family member.

Brief candidate statements will be included in the January Meadoword and in the MCA assessment mailing in mid-January (which also includes your ballot).

    5 out of 7 cannot have any participation in decisions concerning tmcc

    an idependent consultant should be hired to have plans of who and what their plan is to operate tmcc residents can vote on and not the tmcc /mca boards who by their actions have created havoc instead of harmony..let alone millions of dollars squandered

    Considering the current environment, I don’t feel any TMCC member should be permitted to run for/hold an MCA Board seat, as it creates a conflict of interest. Case in point… the recent ‘loan’ to TMCC in order for same to continue its irresponsible management of the ‘Club’. The fact that the MCA Board continues to feed TMCC shows the MCA Board is considering its own personal interests and gain, and NOT the community’s, indicates the MCA Board has FAILED in its mission to safeguard the interest of the community. For this reason, and many more, the MCA Board members(or relatives of same) who are members should resign their positions.

      Totally agree with you, but unfortunately I bet it would never happen. It is not fair to have a country club member on the MCA Board. A good compromise might be to appoint a liaison between the 2 that is not on either Board.

      Maybe someone not even that lives here in the community if you really want a neutral person.

    I can’t imagine voting for any TMCC member, much less a TMCC board member to join the MCA Board. The current MCA Board is conflicted, without recognizing same or even considering the ethical need to recuse themselves from acting on matters concerning TMCC. Law requires MCA board members to act solely in the interest of the MCA. Let’s cut off the TMCC agents from the MCA board.

      Unfortunately it is going to get worse before it gets better. There are already 3 TMCC members on the MCA Board and at least 1 more is going to be added in this election. Could be as many as 3 more for a “super-majority” with 6 of 9 Board members being TMCC members.

    how many get elected is my 1st question I guess. I also guess that people who do not like the direction of the board recently would be voting in new direction.

    Could the boards disregard of best interests of membership be considered illegal? I think not morally correct for sure. Is it insane to keep doing same thing over and over and expecting different results?

      It would be a violation of their fiduciary duties. So you could potentially take them to court and fight it out there. They would have unlimited MCA Homeowner funds to defend their actions. Yes repeating the same thing and expecting different results is insanity…….but it doesn’t stop people from doing it. It is a lot easier than trying something different (especially if you can do so spending someone else’s money)

        There is no ombudsman or other resource for the MCA’s classification of HOA (under statute 720). There have been attempts in 2022 and 2023-24 but they have not passed.

    As always, thank you for the simple, clear, concise, easy to understand information.

    let’s see if I got it…

    1.go to meetings

    2.read the blog for understanding

    3. Make your voice heard by speaking up about your concerns at meetings.

    4. Spread the word. Inform others.

    5. Vote for candidates that you feel have your best interest as a resident of the meadows.

    6 ,7, etc……..?
